The USNWC’s mission is to build stronger communities by: - Promoting healthy and active lifestyles
- Developing environmental stewardship
- Encouraging family/civic interaction
The benefits USNWC brings include: - Making Charlotte a more compelling place to live and visit by creating a more engaged and active community
- Developing essential life-skills for our youth
- Fostering opportunities for families to participate in activities together
- Offering attractive venues for tourists and exciting choices for business development efforts
- Creating opportunities for children, business and community leaders to understand the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems
- Providing a world-class lifesaving training center for swift-water rescue
- Promoting cultural diversity venues for people of different backgrounds to play and interact
On a daily basis the USNWC serves as a reminder to all of us of the value in protecting our natural resources such as the Catawba River and its many sources. By promoting an interactive relationship with the outdoors, the Center demonstrates the vital importance of humans interacting with their environment in a way that supports a balanced, healthy lifestyle and ecosystem. The Center serves as a learning center for schools, church and civic groups to coordinate their environmental and ecological studies. The Center promotes environmental stewardship through experiential and traditional learning experiences.
