History - Eighteen years ago the Tarheel Trailblazers began an effort to construct and maintain mountain biking trails at the current location of the USNWC. Over this time the trails have been enjoyed by enthusiasts of all types and we are all thankful of those early hardworking efforts. In 2004, the USNWC organized and worked out a long-term lease of the 307 acre property, ensuring the future security of the trail system. In 2006, the USNC opened doors and began serving the mission to build strong communities by promoting healthy, active lifestyles. The 11 miles of trails are on of the greatest assets of the Center. Today, the USNWC is responsible for the management of the trail system and actively supports, develops, and maintains the trail system. These management efforts are supported by the continued volunteerism of the Tarheel Trailblazers, Dirt Divas, REI, and others. We applaud the volunteer trail building efforts of the past and encourage any group of individual interested in adding a hand to email
