Mountain Biking

The U.S. National Whitewater Center is home to some of Charlotte’s best trails. The USNWC offers 14 miles of scenic woodland trails, river views, challenging climbs and exciting descents for riders of all ages and skill levels. The trail system is shared with hikers and runners and it’s difficulty is graded by color:

  • Green – beginner/easy, mostly flat trails
  • Blue – intermediate, slight elevation changes
  • Black – advanced, steep elevation changes

All riders are required to be equipped with a helmet and a mountain bike designed for steep single-track riding. If you have your own bike and helmet, you are welcome to enjoy the trails without purchasing an activity pass. If you need equipment (bike/helmet), simply purchase an AllSport, CoolSport, QuickSport or Sunset Pass. Trails may be inaccessible at times due to inclement weather, trail maintenance or scheduled events. Please remember to check the trail status prior to your visit on:

  • Ride On Open Trails Only
  • Leave No Trace
  • Control Your Bicycle
  • Yield Trail to Others
  • Never Scare Animals
  • Plan Ahead
