Advanced Raft Maneuvers

Does your Department own a raft?  Has your Department been trained on how to use your raft in fast moving current?  Let the professional guides at the U.S. National Whitewater Center train your staff to become top notch boat handlers. 

Advanced Paddle Raft Maneuvers  

This course teaches advanced paddle raft maneuvering, recognition and avoidance of common river hazards, R2/R4 maneuvering, dealing with hydraulics once you’re in them, anatomy of a pin, and raft recovery upon a flip in a rapid.  Students should feel confident in guiding Class 3 whitewater by the end of the 2 day course.  All students must have completed Basic Paddle Raft Maneuvers, at the USNWC, prior to signing up for the Advanced Course.  We also provide the Basic and the Advanced as a combined class.

2 days (16 - 18 hrs)

GEAR REQUIREMENTS
Dress appropriately for weaterh (Drysuit/Wetsuit)
Helmet (lightweight water or kayak helmet)
PFD (USCG Type III or V)
Shoes (thick-soled water booties or tennis shoes)
