Wilderness Exploration and Survival

There’s an adventurer in all of us, pitch a tent and spend the weekend with your friends and family on Hawk Island at the USNWC in Charlotte, N.C. Explore our more than 300 woodland acres, while learning the seven priorities of survival; positive mental attitude, wilderness first aid, shelter building, fire craft, signaling, water, and food.

This course is fun, informative, and a great opportunity for families to spend a weekend together.  This “modern” survival requires proper equipment, preparedness, and the expectation of rescue within 72 hours. Dinner and breakfast will be provided and a complete gear list will be sent upon registration. Program information:

  • Course Duration: two days/one night
  • Age qualifier:  Ages 10 and up are welcomed to participate. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Course Dates:
    • Saturday, May 21 & Sunday, May 22 (Course Canceled)
  • Price:
    • Adults (ages 16 and up): $125
    • Children (ages 10 – 15): $100
    • Tent rentals: $10 (optional)
  • Rafting Upgrade: $30/person, add a whitewater rafting experience to the end of the second day
